Well it was obvious Greece would take centre stage this summer, but that was supposed to be in Athens at the Olympics, not in Portugal at Euro 2004.
They had never won a game in a major finals before and then this - amazing!
Beating Portugal, France and the Czechs was a Herculean effort, and then they made toast of the host in the final.
That first win over Portugal set the tournament's tone and, despite being continually written off, the Greeks carried on confounding the critics.
If you wanted your football played with an ol� and some elegance Otto Rehhagel's men weren't for you. They were all about organisation and endeavour.
But it worked, they had a bit of luck at times but were always difficult to beat and their defence was quite superb.
This is the biggest thing to hit Greece since Demis Roussos and when Rehhagel's boys get back to Athens they'll be treated like Gods.
