Midfielder Karagounis has struggled to break into the Inter Milan team since moving from Panathinaikos in 2003. Behind Uruguayan star Alvaro Recoba in the pecking order, he has endured a frustrating time on the sidelines.
Karagounis attracted interest from several Serie A clubs after shining for Panathinaikos in the Champions League.
