Mark McGregor scored his first league goal for Burnley to put them on their way to victory against promotion-chasing Norwich at Turf Moor.

McGregor got up highest to head the opening goal of the game in the 59th minute.

And as time ticked down, Glen Little's cool finish sealed a victory which puts Burnley on the verge of a play-off place.

The Clarets did have the ball in the net as early as the 21st minute but the goal was disallowed.

Ian Moore got on the end of Little's cross and fired home, only to be denied by the linesman's flag.

Norwich only came to life in first-half injury-time when Paul McVeigh fired in a shot which Marlon Beresford saved with his feet and Gary Holt shot over from the rebound.

Norwich continued their improvement at the start of the second half, and Beresford had to be at his best to deny first Mark Rivers and then Iwan Roberts.

But former Wrexham defender McGregor then sneaked up at the far post to head home Robbie Blake's cross.

Beresford still had to thwart substitutes Ian Henderson and Darel Russell in quick succession before Little made the game safe by squeezing home another Blake cross.
