| Wednesday, 19 February, 2003, 17:22 GMT Watford players' waiting game A large group of Watford players face a nervous wait to find out if they will still be playing at Vicarage Road next season. The contracts of 14 players run out at the end of the season. Watford boss Ray Lewington aims to hone his playing squad for the next campaign before the summer. The 14-man hit-list includes first-team regulars Heidar Helguson, Allan Neilsen and captain Neil Cox. Lewington has already told five more players, (Matt Langston, Fabian Forde, Barrie Matthews, Nick Williams and Gary Cohen), that they will be released in May. Striker Gifton Noel-Williams' contract is also due to expire at the same time but he already has an option for the following season. Watford could be able to afford to offer more players new deals as their lucrative FA Cup run continues into the quarter-finals. |
