Victory takes Gainsborough Trinity to brink of safety
Manager Brian Little was delighted as Gainsborough Trinity all but secured their status in Blue Square Bet North with a 3-1 win at home to Corby Town.
Trinity are nine points clear of 20th-placed Stafford with three games to go and have a much better goal difference.
Little told BBC Lincolnshire: "This was our chance to get that magic number of points ahead of the teams below us.
"They now have to win their last three games and we would have to lose our last three games by quite a margin."
Corby took a first-half lead through Paul Malone but Trinity struck back in a second-half purple patch with Luke Waterfall, Leon Mettam and Mark Robinson all scoring in the space of five minutes to seal a third successive victory, their best run of the season.
Little added: "I said to the players at half-time that if we got one back we could push on and we did that. Once we scored they went to pieces.
"The second goal was massive and the third was a bonus - from then on we saw the game out comfortably."
