Joint caretaker-coach Jason Lee was pleased to claim his first win in charge of Boston United as they beat Worcester 1-0 in Blue Square Bet North.
Defender Shaun Pearson netted the only goal of the game, heading home Jamie Yates' 54th-minute corner.
Lee told BBC Lincolnshire: "I was very pleased with the performance. I don't think the scoreline does us credit.
"We wanted to win. Even at 1-0 I made changes to try to get a second and a third, but it wasn't to be."
Worcester played much of the game with 10 men after Marc McGregor was sent off after 16 minutes for retaliation following an altercation with Pearson.
Lee, who took charge along with Lee Canoville following Rob Scott and Paul Hurst's departure to Grimsby , added: "I told the players not to feel sorry because they were down to 10 men. We needed to keep going and show the urgency.
"I don't think they offered much, they didn't create much but there's always the thought in the back of your mind that they might get one chance and take it, but we kept a clean sheet and I was pleased with the result."
