Gainsborough face relegation battle - Brian Little

Gainsborough Trinity

Gainsborough Trinity boss Brian Little has acknowledged his side face a battle to stay clear of relegation from Blue Square Bet North.

Trinity lost 3-1 to Harrogate Town on Saturday, a fifth defeat in a row that saw them slip to 20th in the table.

Little told BBC Lincolnshire: "We've got a fight on our hands but this time last season we were probably in a worse position and made a comeback.

"I don't want to walk away, I'm not going to throw the towel in."

Gainsborough took the lead at the Northolme after six minutes through Ryan Kendall, but 10 minutes later the hosts had Luke Waterfall sent off for bringing down Graeme Armstrong who then levelled from the resulting penalty.

Second-half goals from Wayne Phillips and Gary King condemned Trinity to another home defeat.

The result means Trinity have only won once at the Northolme in the league all season.

Little added: "We made a great start but at the moment everything we touch seems to go wrong. I thought we did fine until the second goal but the sending off changed everything."
