New Didcot Town boss Ady Williams is relishing the challenge of steering the Railwaymen towards safety.

Williams takes over from Stuart Peace who left Didcot last week with the club just two points above the Zamaretto League Premier Division drop-zone.

Williams, 39, told BBC Oxford: "I enjoy challenges and I like coming out of my comfort zone.

"Hopefully with myself at the helm and with the team we've got we can keep our Premier Division status next season."

Didcot Town, who have only won five times this season, suffered their 15th defeat of the campaign when they lost 3-0 to Evesham United on Saturday.

"The team is not in fantastic position and results haven't been great and confidence is down and body language of the players isn't great," said the former Reading captain.

"But it's up to me to turn it around, we're in the back end of the season and we need some results quickly."

This is the second managerial post for the former Wales international after he led Bedford Town to relegation survival at the end of the Premier Division 2009/10 season.

But Williams insists that despite Didcot's position in the table he will not be looking to make drastic changes to the squad.

"It's important that everybody starts with a clean slate," he said.

"It's wrong for me to come in and start saying this that and the other without really seeing the players and seeing them train.

"Everyone will have a fair crack at the whip, so if I think the squad is good enough then great, but if there is room to bring players in then we will go down that road.

"But the important thing right now is that the players, coaching and staff start afresh," added Williams.
