Harrogate Town have signed centre-back Jake Picton, who was available after his club Ilkeston were wound up.
The 19-year-old came through the youth set up at Scunthorpe and he also spent time on loan at Gainsborough Trinity.
Boss Simon Weaver told BBC Radio York: "We want to develop him here. He was recommended to me by Tony Dawes who is reserve manager at Scunthorpe.
"We're glad to get hold of him and over a period of time hopefully he'll turn into a very good player for us."
Picton is available for Harrogate Town's game at home to Hyde although Weaver said he is unlikely to select him straight away.
"He'll be available but we won't be making too many changes," he said.
"He had to serve a three-match ban when he was at Ilkeston. So he's got the required aggression but no doubt he'll temper that."
