Darlington recorded their sixth away draw out of six this season at managerless York City to move within a point of the play-off places.

Curtis Main and Gary Smith went close with long-range efforts and Liam Hatch headed narrowly over the bar as the visitors controlled the first half.

But York improved after the break, with Peter Till twice forcing Darlington goalkeeper Sam Russell into saves.

Darlington's Paul Arnison was sent off for a second booking in stoppage-time.
