John McReady was Darlington's hero as he came off the bench to earn his side a dramatic victory over Southport.

Darlington had the better of the early exchanges while the visitors were reduced to long-range efforts.

The match seemed to be heading for a stalemate before home boss Mark Cooper threw McReady into the game.

His decision proved to be a masterstroke as the midfielder fired home from the edge of the area in stoppage time.
