Worcester City were left to rue a missed second-half penalty as Workington left St George's Lane with all three points.
Mark Danks put City ahead and might have doubled the lead but his weak second-half penalty was saved.
Workington substitute Matthew Tymon levelled on 75 minutes with a shot from the edge of the area.
Then Tymon won the game for the Reds with a last-minute drive that dipped over City keeper Tim Sandercombe.
Worcester manager Carl Heeley told BBC Hereford and Worcester: "We said to keep the ball and keep putting it in good areas and there is only one team that is going to win it and I thought we would win it to nil.
"But we can't seem to close out a game or carry out an instruction.
"Ultimately that is why Workington are third or fourth in the league and we're not because teams are not beating us we are just to naive."
