Worcester boss Carl Heeley said Ward's red card was out of character
Worcester City twice came from behind to earn a draw from their Blue Square Bet North game against Nuneaton Town.
Lee Moore (33) put Nuneaton ahead but Matt Birley levelled for City three minutes after the break.
Kyle Storer then restored the visitors' lead when he netted on 58 minutes, but Mark Danks rifled home the equaliser within a minute of the re-start.
City skipper Graham Ward was then sent off for retaliation following an incident with Storer.
Worcester manager Carl Heeley told BBC Hereford and Worcester: "It appears as though Wardie [Graham Ward] has kicked the boy and he has had a moment's head loss.
"He said the boy caught him with his arm and that is why he reacted, but I am not going to hang Wardie out to dry.
"To be in that changing room and see his desire, character and commitment to play for this club, I will excuse him a little moment because that is so out of character.
"I will support him on that because I don't attach any blame to him - it is silly and I ask him to learn from it."
