Defty is the club's leading scorer with 8 goals this season
Lowestoft Town's win over Desborough Town in the FA Cup on Saturday shows just how much progress The Blues have made over recent years.
The two sides met when Lowestoft made it to Wembley in the FA Vase two years ago and on that occasion it was a single goal victory, with Desborough perhaps unfortunate not to get something out of the game.
Since then, The Trawler Boys have risen through the ranks while Desborough are struggling at the foot of the UCL Premier, and the gulf in class was evident at Crown Meadow with a 7-1 romp.
The Northants side were certainly hampered with their coach breaking down on the way to the game, which led to a delayed start, but it was plain sailing for Lowestoft.
Next up, in the second qualifying round, is a trip to Conference South side Dartford on Saturday, 25 September, so The Blues will be able to test themselves against a team from a league higher.
King's Lynn Town also hit the goal trail as they went top of the UCL Premier.
The Linnets beat Daventry United 6-1 and took full advantage of their title rivals being away on FA Cup duty.
It was also a reasonably good day for Norfolk clubs in the Ridgeons Premier.
Great Yarmouth Town, Norwich United and Wroxham all won while there were draws for Dereham Town and Kirkley and Pakefield.
It's certainly good to see all those sides in the top half of the table after encouraging starts.
