Boston United wrecked Workington's unbeaten start in Blue Square North with a 4-0 win at York Street.
The Pilgrims, who have only lost once this season, took the lead through Danny Davidson's first-half strike.
Spencer Weir-Daley then scored twice on 50 and 53 minutes before Shaun Pearson struck the fourth on 67 minutes.
Workington's best effort saw Phil McLuckie strike the bar, while Weir-Daley and Miles Hunter had chances to extend Boston's lead late in the game.
Joint-manager Paul Hurst told BBC Lincolnshire: "It was an excellent win against a good side and we're happy with the result and also the performance.
"It should fill our players with confidence. I think they've got it anyway but if they don't believe that they can compete at the top of this league after that result, then they never will."
