Ibbotson got the support of the new fans consortium in the summer
Lewes had to settle for a draw in a goaless Blue Square Bet South encounter at the Dripping Pan.
Basingstoke keeper Chris Tardif and his Lewes counterpart Chris Winterton both shone as the defences dominated.
Lewes boss Steve Ibbotson told BBC Sussex: "I think it was a fair result. At the moment we aren't playing the 4-5-1 particularly well.
"We played very well early on and could have been three or four up within the first 15 minutes."
He added: "Rob Gradwell is working his socks off up front and we're not supporting him.
"I don't think we were under masses of pressure late on but there were periods when we stopped playing that they could have scored. We kept a clean sheet. We've got to take the positives from it".
Ibbotson kept his job in the summer despite the club's takeover by a fans consortium.
"We don't want to be in a relegation battle this year," he added. "We need to play better than today to avoid that."
