Sussex brought an end to Somerset's unbeaten run in dramatic style at Horsham in a rain-shortened CB40 tie.

Somerset made a strong start as Marcus Trescothick (67) and Craig Kieswetter (45) added 105 for the first wicket.

Peter Trego hit 50, and though wickets fell regularly, Somerset posted a challenging 216-7 off 20 overs.

However, Ed Joyce (35) and Michael Yardy (66 no) scored equally quickly, and when rain returned, Sussex won by 17 runs on the Duckworth-Lewis method.

Group A leaders Somerset appeared to be continuing their fine form in the CB40 this season as their top order made easy runs, setting a strong target.

In reply, Luke Wright (16) holed out early but Joyce and Murray Goodwin (13) kept up the pressure.

However, when Murali Kartik (2-22) removed them both in his first over Sussex's position suddenly looked perilous.

With the rain steadily worsening, Sussex skipper Yardy reversed his side's fortunes, striking his runs off just 30 balls.

Together with Joe Gatting (25 no), he added 91 in seven overs to take the holders back ahead of the D/L score before the umpires decided the rain was too heavy for further play.
