AFC Telford United have signed former Wrexham midfielder Steve Abbott.

Abbott started his football career with Wigan Athletic before achieving a two-year contract with Wrexham under Dean Saunders in 2008.

Telford assistant manager Dean Read told BBC Radio Shropshire: "He gets goals from attacking midfield. He's a big strong lad.

"He'll be a magnificent addition and the fans have a player they'll look forward to watching next season."

Abbott becomes Telford's second pre-season arrival following right-back Ashley Wooliscroft and BBC Radio Shropshire understands they are close to completing two more signings.

The Bucks start pre-season training on 22 June, as they prepare to play in the Blue Square Bet North.
