Ian Sharps has played 332 league games for Tranmere and Rotherham
Shrewsbury Town have signed defender Ian Sharps from Rotherham United.
The 29-year-old penned a two-year deal after completing a medical on Monday to become Graham Turner's first signing since his reappointment as manager.
Meanwhile, utility man Shane Cansdell-Sherriff has agreed a one-year contract extension to stay at the Meadow.
The 27-year-old Aussie has made 79 appearances for Town since being signed by previous boss Paul Simpson from Tranmere in June 2008.
Six foot three, Warrington-born Sharps played alongside Cansdell-Sherriff at Tranmere, from where he left to join Rotherham in August 2006.
He has now notched up 381 career appearances, scoring 18 goals.
"The addition of Ian Sharps is a big boost as he is a very good player," Turner told Shrewsbury's club website.
"Shane agreeing to extend his stay at the club is another boost as you need competition in all places.
"The two agreeing deals is a big boost. I can't wait for the start of pre-season and getting down to work."
