Aiston previously played under Brian Little at Tranmere and Wrexham

Gainsborough Trinity's Phil Barnes, Sam Aiston and Gavin Cowan have signed new deals with the Blue Square North club.

Ex-Grimsby keeper Barnes joined the Blues at the start of last season while midfielder Aiston and defender Cowan joined midway through the campaign.

They played a key part as Trinity escaped the threat of relegation to finish the season in 14th.

Gainsborough have also signed former Eastwood midfielder Emeka Nwadike and ex-Corby Town striker Leon Mettam.

They join left-back Paul Mayo and defender Luke Waterfall as additions to Little's squad for next season.
