Gainsborough Trinity have signed former Lincoln City, Watford and Notts County defender Paul Mayo on a one-year deal.

Mayo, 28, made more than 240 Football League appearances and this season played for Trinity's Blue Square North rivals Corby Town.

He said: "I was offered a good deal at Corby and had a good season there, but Gainsborough are an ambitious club so I'm coming out of my comfort zone."

Gainsborough are also set to sign Ilkeston Town defender Luke Waterfall.

Trinity have agreed a two-year contract with the 19-year-old but would have to pay compensation to the Robins as he is under 24.
