Mattishall upset the odds to win Norfolk Senior Cup
Mattishall defeated three Ridgeons League clubs on the way to their win
Anglian Combination side Mattishall won the Norfolk Senior Cup after beating Norwich United on penalties on Monday.
Jordan Blyth gave United the lead after 52 minutes at Carrow Road but Jimmy Lovell levelled the scores for Mattishall with 15 minutes to go.
The shoot-out was decided when United skipper Darren Coe missed his penalty, while Mattishall scored all of theirs.
Mattishall are the first Anglian Combination side to win the Norfolk Senior Cup since St Andrews in 1981/82.
Mattishall manager Gaven Tipple told BBC Radio Norfolk: "I think we deserved the victory.
"We had the better chances and if we'd have lost it would have been a kick in the teeth, we did deserve it no doubt.
"We were always going to win tonight, that's not me being over confident it's just that I had every faith in the team," he said.
Skipper Lovell had dislocated his shoulder in the semi-final win at Dereham, but recovered in time to make the final.
"I've been at the club seven years now and this is the best thing that's ever happened, a great squad of players who all want to win, and that's what we did," he said.
