Gary McGee's three goals guaranteed silverware for Lowestoft Town

Lowestoft Town duly wrapped up the Ryman Division One North title at the weekend, sealing a second successive promotion with a sparkling display.

The Blues went into their game against Cheshunt at Crown Meadow needing just a point to lift the trophy, but it was obvious they wanted victory in front of their own fans.

By half time they were 4-0 up - Gary McGee had notched a hat-trick - and they were well on their way to a 5-1 win.

There were joyous scenes at the end as you can imagine and the crowd of 1,139 was the biggest in the whole of the Ryman League - evidence of the wonderful support the Trawler Boys are enjoying at the moment.

Although the club will rightfully be revelling in its continued success, I'm also sure that the management team are already penning thoughts for next season.

One or two tweaks are probably needed, but in my mind the squad they have now will be able to compete at the next level up with little problems.

FA Vase finalists Wroxham made it two wins from the last two with a single goal victory at Hadleigh in the Ridgeons Premier, while there was a twist in the Division One title race.

It was a case of East Coast collaboration because Gorleston did their near neighbours a favour in beating Brantham Athletic 2-0.

Brantham started the day top but that defeat, coupled with a 2-0 win for Great Yarmouth Town against Stowmarket Town at The Wellesley, saw The Bloaters go back to the summit with just a handful of games remaining.

Gorleston's hopes of promotion are still alive thanks to that win, although at the moment Brantham and FC Clacton look likely to join Great Yarmouth Town in the Premier next season.

This coming week is a very busy one with Carrow Road hosting three finals.

On Monday it's the Norfolk Senior Cup Final between Mattishall and Norwich United, followed on Tuesday by the Norfolk Junior Cup which is being contested by Foulsham and West Lynn Sports and Social Club.

The action concludes on Wednesday when Dog House face AFC Wanderers in the Norfolk Sunday Senior Cup Final.
