Spriggs' strike sealed the outcome of the game in a matter of seconds

All the talk over the last few days has obviously been about Wroxham's FA Vase heroics.

The Yachtsmen became the first Norfolk side since 1994 to make it to the final when they beat Whitehawk at Trafford Park, in the second leg of the semi-final.

They went through 4-1 on aggregate, but no-one could have predicted the way the game began.

With just 14 seconds on the clock, Steve Spriggs pounced to open the scoring and effectively put the game out of reach of the East Sussex side (I'm sure the record books will be scoured to see if it is the quickest goal in Vase history).

When Shaun Howes floated in a free kick just a few minutes later that was it, done and dusted.

So plans can now be drawn up for the final on Sunday, 9 May, against holders Whitley Bay and I hope Wroxham get great support from the football community.

The North East side will undoubtedly start as favourites, but The Yachtsmen have found themselves carrying the underdog tag in virtually every round of the competition - and so far haven't done too badly!

Lowestoft Town know just what it's like at Wembley, of course, having made the final of the Vase two years ago and The Blues nudged closer to their own piece of silverware.

A 4-0 win over Maldon Town on Monday means that if they avoid defeat at Crown Meadow on Saturday, they will be Ryman Division One North champions.

They were close to celebrating after the Maldon game, but nearest rivals Concord Rangers got a late equaliser in their game against East Thurrock - had they lost, the title would have been secured there and then.

In the Ridgeons League, Great Yarmouth Town edged closer to promotion with a 1-0 win at East Coast rivals Gorleston - Stewart Roach getting the all important goal.
