Great Yarmouth Town got back to winning ways at the weekend to boost their hopes of promotion, and were also given a helping hand by one of their local rivals.

The Bloaters romped to an 8-0 win over Swaffham Town at The Wellesley to end a three game run without a win - one that strengthened their grip on second place in Ridgeons Division One.

Jake Reed caught the eye with a very impressive display. The youngster, who's come through the ranks at Great Yarmouth, got four of the goals and caused all sorts of problems for the luckless Pedlars.

There was further good news for Paul Tong's side because fellow promotion contenders FC Clacton were beaten 2-0 by Diss Town at Brewers Green Lane. Gorleston kept themselves in the hunt as well with victory at Saffron Walden.

Wroxham have just one game to go before they make the trip to Brighton for the first leg of their FA Vase semi-final.

The Yachtsmen have picked up wins in their last two games and on Tuesday travel to Wisbech in the Ridgeons Premier.

They'll be hoping a number of injuries clear up in time for the big match on Sunday at Whitehawk, while keeping fingers crossed they don't pick up any fresh concerns.

Overall, it was a good day on Saturday in the Premier with Norwich United, Kirkley and Pakefield also winning.

Lowestoft Town are three points closer to the Ryman Division One North title. The Blues were 2-0 winners at Kent side VCD Athletic with Matt Nolan and Jamie Godbold getting the goals.
