Benjamin cost 1.3m when he joined Leicester in 2000
Wroxham's preparations for the FA Vase semi-finals are looking disjointed following Saturday's 2-0 home defeat by Needham at Trafford Park.
Results and performances have been disappointing while injuries and suspension fears have caused disruption.
They were well beaten by Needham Market, the team The Yachtsmen beat in the quarter-finals of the Vase, but they were without midfielder Gareth Simpson who picked up a groin injury last week.
With striker Paul Cook left out of the side (as one more booking would have ruled him out of the semi-final) Trevor Benjamin made his debut.
Benjamin is an acquaintance of manager David Batch, and has played for a variety of professional clubs, but was carrying an injury and could not do himself justice.
A fully-fit Benjamin would have proved beneficial with big games ahead but with little time left it is difficult to see how he could fit in with any short-to-medium-term plans.
The defeat leaves Wroxham mid-table in the Ridgeons Premier, while there were wins for Norwich United, Kirkley and Pakefield while Dereham Town drew.
Ridgoens Division One
Promotion-chasing Great Yarmouth Town's lean spell continued at the weekend.
The Bloaters were held to a 1-1 draw at Saffron Walden Town, a result that means they have picked up just two points from their last three games.
Jamie Godbold opened the scoring for Lowestoft after just six minutes
In contrast Lowestoft Town are well and truly back on track in Ryman Division One North.
The Blues extended their lead at the top of the table to seven points after a 4-1 win over Waltham Forest at Crown Meadow.
There is another busy week ahead, with games on Tuesday and Thursday, but a positive return from those will put them in very good shape.
