Gavin Lemmon was a strong link in the midfield for Wroxham
Wroxham's 2-0 win in the first leg of their FA Vase semi final at Whitehawk on Sunday has put them in a strong position, but there were no celebrations at the end of the game.
That was good to see because the job is only half done and Whitehawk will know there is still plenty of time for them to get themselves back in contention.
Having said that, the onus will be on them to attack so The Yachtsmen can plan accordingly.
The win was built around a very solid second half showing with Gavin Lemmon and Andy Eastaugh getting a grip of midfield.
This gave Wroxham more room and Paul Cook headed home just after the break with Eastaugh smashing in the second with a sweet strike from 20 yards.
The home side, backed by the majority of the 1,300 strong crowd, did hit the bar when it was 1-0 but Wroxham also had other opportunities and Cook was unfortunate not to have added to his personal tally.
Whitehawk's frustrations became evident towards the end when former Brighton striker Darren Freeman was red carded for an elbow on Eastaugh.
So attentions turn to Trafford Park this coming Saturday when hopefully the Norfolk public will get behind The Yachtsmen.
As far as league action went at the weekend, Lowestoft Town notched up another win in Ryman Division One North. The league leaders won 3-1 at Ilford, so making up for an early season defeat at Crown Meadow.
There were some big wins in the Ridgeons Premier.
Kirkley & Pakefield kept up their outside chance of the title with a 5-0 win over Stanway Rovers, Dereham Town came back from a goal down to thrash bottom club Wivenhoe 7-1 while Norwich United were 4-1 winners at Hadleigh.
In Division One, Great Yarmouth Town remain second after a late win at Godmanchester Rovers.
