Carl Heeley's City team are now seven points above the relegation places.
Worcester City manager Carl Heeley is annoyed that new recruit Ryan Burge failed to turn up for Saturday's goalless draw at home to St Albans.
Heeley was forced to play another new man Jason Pike at the last minute when former Birmingham City trialist Burge did not make an appearance.
"I didn't receive a call," said Heeley. "I even called his father and he said he'd call me back, but I had no call."
It was a double blow for City, who were also without striker Matt Dinsmore.
Heeley was also disappointed that Dinsmore chose to miss the game to concentrate on winning a scholarship in the United States.
"Matt was unavailable because he went away to do a level one coaching course," Heeley told BBC Hereford & Worcester.
"He didn't hide it from me but, from a Worcester City point of view, and that's all I'm looking at, I'm disappointed that Matt felt his priorities lay there and I've told him that.
With regard to Ryan, I had a deal with the Glenn Hoddle Academy that he comes and plays for us

"But I can't drag him here. He's made his choice and that was his priority.
"With regard to Ryan, I had a deal with the Glenn Hoddle Academy that he comes and plays for us.
"It's a two-way thing. He gets games and he helps us out because we are light on numbers.
"He came in last week and put in a very competent display.
"I don't know the reasons why but he just failed to turn up. That's disappointing but, until I know the reasons, I can't really comment on that."
Saturday's point lifts City seven points clear of the drop zone with six Blue Square South games of the season to go.
