Scott says Boston fans can play a "massive" part in the promotion push

Boston United joint-manager Rob Scott has urged fans to turn out in force as the Pilgrims aim to keep their promotion push going.

United have four remaining Unibond Premier League matches at York Street and sit second in the table.

"I'd love for the town to come out and support the club and give the boys something to really go for," Scott told BBC Lincolnshire.

He added Pilgrims fans could play a "massive" part in the run-in.

Boston play Nantwich on Saturday on the back of the club's best run of results for 32 years. The Pilgrims' 1-0 win at Grantham on Tuesday night in the Lincolnshire Senior Shield was their 11th victory in 12 games and their eighth consecutive win.

"I know times are hard and I appreciate that, but what they will be given if they do come and watch the game is 16 players that we have in our squad giving their all for Boston United," the manager continued.

"I deliberate a bit when I say this, but I think it's quite a while since that's happened and I think they can proud of a side which is doing as well as they are," Scott said.

The former Football League club regularly attract crowds of more than 1,000 at York Street, but Scott is hoping gates will swell even further in the next few weeks.

"We'd love to get 2,000 there - that would be fantastic. If the players see a few more on the gate it gives them that little bit of enthusiasm that they might need and that little bit of help now that teams are coming to our ground knowing that we've been on a good run," he said.
