Redditch United looked on course to cause a shock in Blue Square North before eventually having to settle for a 2-2 draw with visiting Southport.
After a goalless first half, Marco Adaggio put Gary Whild's struggling Reds ahead on 55 minutes.
Darren Campion then doubled the lead before Earl Davis pulled one back for the Sandgrounders 10 minutes later.
The promotion hopefuls secured a point five minutes from time when Matty McGinn netted the equaliser.
Redditch United manager Gary Whild told BBC Hereford & Worcester:

"It was a bit frustrating as we did get our noses in front at 2-0 up.
"There were a couple of sendings-off which might have helped them more than us so that was disappointing.
"But all in all we would have settled for a point before the game started."
