Redditch United eased their Blue Square North relegation fears with a 1-0 away win at Stafford Rangers.

Joe Clarke kept his nerve to score the only goal of the game with a twice-taken penalty in the 88th minute.

Redditch gave a debut to their new loan striker Marco Adaggio, who has joined them from Worcester City.

The victory lifts the Reds to 17th place in the Blue Square North table and leaves them five points clear of the relegation places.

Redditch manager Gary Whild told BBC Hereford & Worcester:

"Within two weeks we have lost about eight players but we know the financial situation.

"There is no point in putting the club in jeopardy and suffering like so many clubs are now.

"We had to bring some lads in and they have done well so they should take a lot of confidence from this win and the clean sheet."
