Hereford boosted their hopes of avoiding relegation from League Two as they beat Cheltenham despite having James McQuilkin sent off.
Defender Ryan Green played a neat one-two with Kenny Lunt before side-footing into the corner to put his side in front after 24 minutes at Whaddon Road.
The visitors were reduced to 10 men before half time when McQuilkin was sent off for two bookable offences.
Cheltenham rallied after the break but the home side couldn't find a leveller.
Cheltenham Town manager Mark Yates told BBC Radio Gloucestershire: "We haven't done what we set out to do . It shows we lack that quality to open teams up when it matters.
"I apologise to the fans. Against 10 men it wasn't good enough but we've got to stick together and keep working hard.
"Maybe I've got to get a couple of players in this week. The problem has been getting the right players because I feel we need quite a number really. Results haven't been good enough and I need to freshen it up."
Hereford manager John Trewick told BBC Hereford and Worcester:
"We went to Notts County on Saturday and we knew we were coming to Cheltenham tonight and, while it's easy to say after the event, I always had the Cheltenham game as one we might be able to get a result from rather than the Notts County game.
"What happened on Saturday was obviously extremely disappointing having two players sent off and the way the result went.
"But I always felt that if we kept one or two fresh, people like Ryan Green who's coming back from injury, while I thought Adam Bartlett needed taking out of the firing line and Ryan Valentine likewise, so it has worked out as I hoped it might."
