Little happy as Gainsborough earn FA Trophy replay
Gainsborough Trinity manager Brian Little was pleased to see his side earn an FA Trophy first round replay with a 2-2 draw at Southport on Saturday.
Trinity twice went behind to the Blue Square North leaders but levelled through Josh Davies and Wes Parker.
Little told BBC Lincolnshire: "We didn't start well and looked like we were going to lose but we clawed our way back into the match.
"Southport weren't at their best today and we took advantage of that."
Southport had two early efforts ruled out for offside but were gifted the lead after Trinity goalkeeper Phil Barnes' throw struck the back of a Southport player, allowing Zac Aley an easy chance.
The Blues levelled early in the second half through Josh Davies' 25-yard drive but the home side restored their lead six minutes later when Chris Simm's low shot crept into the corner.
But Trinity forced a replay at the Northolme on Tuesday when Wes Parker turned the ball home four minutes from time.
The winners of the replay will face a home tie against last season's Blue Square North champions Tamworth in round two.
