Scarborough Athletic have moved to sign former Pickering Town midfielder and captain Joe Connor.

Connor was a former Scarborough Junior and he has also played in the Northern Counties East League for Selby Town.

He made his debut in the 2-0 win against Rainworth Miners Welfare in the Premier Division.

Meanwhile midfielder Gary Hepples has signed for Pickering after spending two years with Athletic and featuring in almost 80 matches.

Scarborough Athletic have also brought midfielder Scott Phillips back into their first-team squad after he apologised for his behaviour at an FA Cup match in August.

After the incident the club said Phillips was not in their immediate plans after throwing his shirt to the floor and arguing with supporters when he was substituted in the defeat at home to Guisborough Town.

The club has said in a statement: "We recognise that in hindsight the punishment decided upon after the incident involving Scott at the Guisborough game may have been too harsh..

"We also recognise the fact that Scott apologised to both the supporters and club officials straight away, and has shown great remorse for his actions."
