Scott delighted by Boston spree

Boston United

Boston United joint manager Rob Scott is delighted with his side's new-found ruthless streak, with the new Unibond League season less than a week away.

Danny Davidson and Matt Kennedy both scored hat-tricks as the Pilgrims ended their pre-season fixtures with an 11-0 rout at Spalding United.

Scott told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "We're creating loads of chances.

"I've said to the lads, whether it's a friendly, a league game, even a game of tiddlywinks they should want to win."

He added: "Whatever the level I want to win. I think that's something the players are starting to realise and which maybe hasn't been here for a couple of seasons."

As well as the hat-tricks from Davidson and Kennedy, Danny Sleath and Marc Newsham each netted a brace at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field with teenager Simon Ashton scoring on his debut.

Boston have won five of their seven pre-season matches with the other two being drawn.

Ben Saunders scored twice as Grantham Town drew 2-2 with Woodley Sports at the Meres, while Phil Stebbing and Ross Watson were on target in Stamford's 4-2 defeat by Soham Town Rangers.

The Unibond League kicks off on Saturday, 15 August with Boston United away at FC United of Manchester in the Premier Division.

In the Unibond First Division South Grantham Town visit Market Drayton Town, Lincoln United also face league newcomers as they host Chasetown, Stamford travel to Sheffield FC and Spalding United are at home to relegated Witton Albion.
