Bucks ready for promotion battle

Matty Lewis
Matty Lewis returns from his loan spell at Hednesford

AFC Telford United boss Rob Smith has said his team will bounce back from their defeat at York in the semi-finals of the FA Trophy.

Telford lost 4-1 on aggregate but Smith told BBC Radio Shropshire they are focused on beating Hinckley in the Blue Square North on Monday.

"We need a win - it's tight at the top, but we've got players back and options up front," he said.

Telford welcome back Matty Lewis from his loan spell with Hednesford.

Lewis broke his leg against Cheltenham during a pre-season friendly and he has had a spell with Hednesford to get match fitness.

Smith still has injury concerns up front, with Danny Carey Bertram rated 50/50 for the Hinckley match.

The Bucks are likely to give new striker Rickey Sappleton his first start after signing him from Leicester City until the end of the season.

606: DEBATE

Telford remain fourth in the league despite losing their last two league games.

Meanwhile, they have been buoyed by the news that midfielder Jamie Vermiglio will be able to play football again despite breaking his back.

After seeking a second opinion Vermiglio has been told he has a number of treatment options available to him.

Specialists had warned him he faced the risk of a serious injury if he continues playing, after being diagnosed with a stress fracture of his spine and a slipped disc.
