Lewis gutted by double leg break

Lewis is set for a lengthy lay-off

AFC Telford striker Matty Lewis has admitted he was "gutted" when he found out he had suffered a double leg break in the friendly with Cheltenham Town.

Initial x-rays at Telford's Princess Royal Hospital revealed a break near his ankle.

Further tests at a Coventry fracture clinic near Lewis' home then discovered he had also broken his tibia.

"I was a bit gutted at first, but I'm glad the second x-ray found out what was wrong in the end," said Lewis.

The striker, who was Telford's leading scorer last season, added: "I told the consultant in Coventry I had pain up my shin, he touched it and I nearly hit the roof."
