A third goal in five games from Richard Cresswell earned Stoke a 1-0 friendly success at League Two Shrewsbury.

Cresswell scored with 20 minutes to go, hitting the ball in off the post after a precision pass from sub Danny Pugh.

Earlier, Lewis Buxton and Mamady Sidibe were denied by Shrewsbury's new goalkeeping signing Luke Daniels, while Dave Kitson missed a sitter.

Shrewsbury's only real chance came from Dave Hibbert, but he was denied by a useful save from Steve Simonsen.
