Harrogate Town manager Neil Aspin felt a draw was a fair result after seeing his side held 2-2 at home by Hinckley on Saturday in the Blue Square North.
James Dean put Harrogate ahead in the second half, only for Hinckley to score twice in a minute before Nicky Gray's header gave Town a share of the points.
Aspin told BBC Radio York: "On the balance of play we didn't do enough to win the game.
"You have to give Hinckley credit, they deserved something out of the game."
Aspin added: "In the first half I felt we were very poor. I was very disappointed at half-time.
"I thought we improved after the break and it could have gone either way towards the end. Both teams missed chances."
Both of Harrogate's goals came from Nathan Peat free-kicks.
Aspin said he is aware of the interest in Peat following the two-week spell when the entire Town squad was on the transfer list.
"He's a player I'd desperately like to stay at the club," said Aspin.
"He is on contract until the end of the season so there's no reason why he has to leave.
"To get a player of his ability and with his left foot is very difficult."
Both Peat and striker Dean will be available for next Saturday's visit of Redditch before they serve suspensions.
Peat misses one game while Dean is out for five matches after picking up his third red card of the season at King's Lynn.
"I've spoken to James," added Aspin. "He realises his disciplinary record is poor. He's got to concentrate on playing, on enjoying his football."
