Pearce angered by Gardner walkout

Stuart Peace
Peace feels Gardner has let a people down with his actions

Didcot Town manager Stuart Peace has been left staggered and annoyed by Jon Gardner's walkout on Saturday.

Gardner, who has only just signed for the club, left Loop Meadow before the game against Beaconsfield after finding out he was not in the starting line-up.

"I have never seen or heard anything like it in my 10 years of management," Peace told the club's website.

"Nobody is guaranteed a starting place. I'm actually quite annoyed with how he's shown an utter lack of respect."

He added: "A lot of people put themselves out this week to get him signed-on in time for the game, including officials at Brackley who processed the paperwork quickly at their end.

"For him to turn up and show a complete disregard for anyone else says volumes about him. I'm only pleased that I found out quickly what he's like."

Didcot Town earned a late point against Beaconsfield thanks to an Ian Sampson goal in the 3-3 draw.
