Woking 2-1 Scarborough
Scarborough's play-off challenge suffered a setback after they were beaten by Woking.

The visitors were left facing an uphill battle when goalkeeper Andy Woods was dismissed after bringing down Woking striker Raphael Nade in the 33rd minute.

Dean Austin made no mistake to convert the subsequent penalty.

Scarborough had taken the lead three minutes earlier through Karl Rose, who converted David Pounder's right-wing cross from close range.

Woods had kept Scarborough in the picture before his red card, saving a close-range header from Tom White, who was making his debut after joining on loan from Conference leaders Yeovil.

Scarborough kept Woking at bay and even hit the post through Anthony Ormerod, but the home side eventually made their numerical advantage pay.

After 59 minutes Chris Sharpling drilled home a close-range shot.

Woking pressed hard for a decisive third goal but Scarborough went closest to scoring when David Holdsworth got in a header from a Rose corner but Shwan Jalal tipped his effort round the post.

The 10 men pushed for an equaliser to keep their play-off hopes alive, but Woking held firm and could have pulled further clear if they had made a series of attacks tell with a goal.

Woking: Jalal, Townsend, Austin, White, Campbell, Kember, Coates, Neil Smith, Scott Smith, Sharpling, Nade. Subs: Farrelly, Boardman, Banger, Abbey, Hamilton.

Scarborough: Woods, Shepherd, Holdsworth, Dryden, Ormerod, Stoker, Brassart, Pounder, Raw, Scott, Rose. Subs: Campbell, Fatokun, Sillah, Dempsey, Walker.

Referee: T Kettle (Maidenhead)
