A late penalty by Junior McDougald earned Dagenham & Redbridge a win against Farnborough Town.

McDougald converted the spot-kick after 86 minutes as a result of substitute Joff Vansittart's foul on Lee Matthews in the area.

Town started brightly as Rocky Baptiste's lob was saved by Daggers goalkeeper Tony Roberts.

The hosts hit back and Danny Shipp's 20-yard free-kick hit the Farnborough woodwork.

Mark Stein drilled a shot at Town goalkeeper Tony Pennock before Farnborough responded with a strike from Ken Charlery which Roberts saved.

Dagenham put pressure on Farnborough as half-time approached with Paul Terry's right-foot effort going over the crossbar.

Stein then had another chance for Daggers after 35 minutes but saw his shot from inside the penalty area go over the crossbar.

Chris Piper tried his luck for Farnborough in a rare attack but his effort went wide.

Dagenham started the second half by gaining four corners in five minutes with Piper and Gary Butterworth forced to clear.

Town's Geoff Pitcher tried his luck but his effort went wide.

Baptiste then sent a header wide for the visitors after connecting with a Butterworth corner but Daggers snatched the win.
