Bimbo Fatokun pounced in the 32nd minute to head home Paul Sheppherd's cross from the right for his fourth goal of the season.

Mohammed Sillah doubled the home side's lead when he beat Leigh goalkeeper Stuart Coburn with a well-struck right-footed shot from 25 yards.

It was no more than Boro deserved after Leigh failed to create any clearcut chances.
