African goals in Europe: 20-21 December

A round-up of all the weekend's African goalscorers in the major leagues around Europe.

ENGLAND

Benni McCarthy
Benni McCarthy celebrates putting Blackburn ahead against Stoke

Benni McCarthy scored twice for Blackburn Rovers in the first 27 minutes of their game against Stoke City.

The South African striker scored the first from the penalty spot in the 9th minute before that second goal sealed their 3-0 win.

Elsewhere in the Premiership, Guinean Kamil Zayate scored an own goal as his side Hull City slumped to a surprise 4-1 home defeat against Sunderland.

And the Togolese striker Emmanuel Adebayor was sent-off as Arsenal drew 1-1 with Liverpool.

SPAIN

Moroccan Nabil Baha was on the score sheet again this weekend as his side Malaga drew 1-1 at Racing Santander.

The striker had put his side in the lead on 38 minutes before their hosts drew level midway in the second-half.

Malian midfielder Seydou Keita grabbed the equaliser for 10-man Barcelona before Thierry Henry's late strike gave them a 2-1 win over Villareal.

Barcelona are still top of La Liga.

FRANCE

Ghanaian Asamoah Gyan and his Senegalese team-mate Moussa Sow were both on target to help Rennes to a 2-1 win over Lorient.

Moroccan striker Youssouf Hadji scored twice for Nancy in their superb 3-0 victory over at Marseille.

Senegalese Issiar Dia scored the third goal for Nancy.

Another player from Morocco, Marouane Chamakh, scored twice as his side Bordeaux defeated Monaco 4-3.

Ivorian Siaka Tiene grabbed one of the goals for Valenciennes in his side's impressive 2-2 draw at Paris Saint-Germain.

ITALY

Morocco's Houcine Kharja was the only African on the scoresheet.

He scored a 44th minute equaliser for Siena but they still went down 2-1 to league leaders Inter Milan.

HOLLAND

Moroccan striker Mounir El Hamdaoui scored his 16th goal of the season as his first half goal helped AZ Alkmaar to defeat Utrecht 2-0.

Nigerian midfielder Ajilore Oluwafemi scored his first Eredevisie goal as his 87th minute strike helped his side Groningen to overcome Roda JC Kerkrade 5-2.

BELGIUM

Ivorian defender Sekou Ouattara scored the second goal for Roulers but his side were losers in the seven-goal thriller which ended 4-3 in favour of Cercle Bruges.

Gambian Mustapha Jarju Toubabo gave home side Mons-Bergen the lead before Algerian Mohamed Dahmane converted a penalty to give them a 2-0 lead.

But Zulte-Waregem rallied and scored two late goals for the entertaining encounter to end 2-2.

And Nigeria's Joseph Akpala scored the opening goal for Club Bruges but Mouscron fought back to hammer them 5-1 with the equalising goal coming from South African midfielder Asanda Sishuba.
