St Clement made sure of promotion from the Championship with a comfortable 4-0 home win against lowly St Martin/SCF.

A Matt Scriven hat-trick in the seven minutes before half-time put the result beyond doubt, with Mick Cavey adding the fourth on 83 minutes.

Manager Dave Melton paid tribute to his side. "The lads have worked really hard this year," he told BBC Jersey.

"It's a shame we're only runners-up, but we've played some good stuff this year, and we'll do the same next year."

St Clement recently completed their new clubhouse, and have also created new training facilities.

The set-up is ready for the Premiership - and Melton is not afraid of the challenge as to whether they can make an impact.

"We like to play football," he said. "And we pass the ball around. That's what we'll be doing next year."

He also had a warning for any new players that he can attract to the club.

"These lads have done fantastic this year," he added. "And any new players coming in will have to work just as hard."

Championship winners Jersey Wanderers kept their 100 per cent record intact, with a 1-0 win at home to Sporting Academics, the only goal coming from Michael Agrela.
