St Paul's title triumph held up by Jersey Scottish
St Paul's once again dropped points against lowly Jersey Scottish to delay their Premiership title celebrations after a 2-2 draw at Springfield.
Needing just one win from three games, the leaders looked home and dry after a Ross Crick double put them ahead.
But Scottish, the only team to take points off them all season, fought back through James O'Haire, with James Scott equalising in the second half.
St Paul's have another chance to make sure at home to St Ouen on Saturday.
It was a valuable if unexpected point for Scottish, who now move above Rozel Rovers and out the drop zone on goal difference, with both sides having two to play.
Maybe a little complacency crept in tonight... we've still got it all to do
St Paul's manager Craig Culkin
St Paul's manager Craig Culkin accepted that his side did not deserve to win.
He said: "We struggled to break them down but we'll just put it down to a really bad day at the office. We conceded two goals from two set pieces but these things happen in football."
St Paul's still have two more chances to make sure of retaining the title, starting with a home match to fourth-placed St Ouen on Saturday, which Culkin is not taking for granted.
"Maybe a little complacency crept in tonight - we know we're in for a tough game on Saturday and we've still got it all to do," he said.
St Paul's clash with St Ouen at Clos des Pauvres on Saturday kicks off at 1430 GMT.
