Clayton had to retire in the third set due to severe cramp |
Jersey's Scott Clayton lost his semi-final of the Lawn Tennis Association Under-16s Masters at Roehampton after retiring with cramp in the final set. Clayton was advised to retire by the trainer in the third game of the third set having had treatment three times. The 16-year-old had won the first set 6-4 against top seed Jonathan Cornish, but lost the second set 7-5. In December, Clayton won singles and doubles titles at a European Tennis Association under-16 event in Malta.
