Simon Tostevin scored both goals for North

Northerners AC got the defence of their Senior County League Division One title off to a winning start away at St Martin's on Tuesday.

Simon Tostevin scored both goals for the champions at Blanche Pierre Lane, before St Martin's got one back from the penalty spot.

North, who are by far the most successful club in Guernsey's history, also won the title back in 2007.

Before their win in 2007, they had not won the championship for 15 years.
