Charlton want Jackson for Dickson

Gillingham's top transfer target - Charlton striker Chris Dickson - could still move to Priestfield, but only if Simeon Jackson joins the Addicks.

Gills boss Mark Stimson has wanted to sign Dickson since he was on-loan at Priestfield in the 2007-08 season.

Charlton have rejected all offers, but now manager Phil Parkinson has said: "We'll let him go if they give us one of their strikers in return.

"I won't name him but you'll guess who I am talking about."

He told the press: "I've told them they can have Chris if he wants to go but there'll have to be a part exchange on this deal.

"If that doesn't happen then Chris will stay with us."

It will not be what Gills boss Mark Stimson is after because he has always dreamed of pairing the two together.

Dickson scored 11 goals in 14 appearances for the Gills during his stint at Priestfield.

Jackson was Gillingham's top scorer last season with 21 goals - including the last-gasp winner against Shrewsbury in the play-off final at Wembley, which saw them promoted to League One

Stimson has previously said he thinks the 22-year-old Canadian international is worth around £1.5m.

The Gills have offered Charlton £50,000 for Dickson.
