Marco Viera scored two for St Peter as they beat St John 4-1
There were no shocks on the first day of the new football season in Jersey as the top-flight sides cruised through their Charity Cup preliminary ties.
Champions St Paul's thrashed St Clement 6-1 at the eastern parish side.
St Peter came from a goal down to beat St John, who finished bottom of the second division last season, 4-1.
Dean Jones gave St John the lead before island winger Marco Viera scored twice along with strikes from Jack Cannon and Chris Conning.
St Brelade are the other side to go through, beating fellow Championship side St Lawrence 4-2 in a first round tie. Tom Brennan and Mike Spitall were amongst the St Brelade scorers.
St Paul's will now face Magpies in the first round, while St Peter will take on Jersey Wanderers.
St Brelade will play either Jersey Nomads or Jersey Scottish in the second round.
